Weekends Time

Its the day every working person waiting for, weekends. (^o^)
Happy Sabbath to all my SDA's friends. (P church, jgn malas bangun pagi)
My saturday morning always spent by going to church (time d UTeM, sa admit pemalas ckit mau p church. tapi kalo d cni, sa rajin p sebab sa suka environment dia)
Then, went back home at noon and take a short nap until evening. Around 7 PM just now, i thought maybe i should bring my family go out for having dinner (actually I want to buy a DVD player for my family. Since I never been in the house more than 2 months this past 4 years, no one in the house know so much about those stuff. Plus, i think almost all house must have a DVD player, rite? Who want to watch a movie with a CD quality..).
Back in Malacca, there's few choices of place you can visit if you want to buy electrical appliances. BUT in KK, there's no place like Karamunsing. It's the only place you should go if you want buy all those stuff. Straightly after my parents came back from Kota Belud (they ask me whether I want to join but since last night i reach home almost 3 AM then wake early go to church, i felt very sleepy), i bring them to Karamunsing. Do a little survey and "$$$", DVD player is uncheck item on my shopping list (since i got extra cash, well for now..haha. Got few more things to buy tomorrow) Then, we all go to KFC for our dinner. It's been a long time I take my dinner with my family outside. So, once in a while its not a bad things bring them to this kind of place. After that, we went back home. Oopps, out of sudden..i saw of one my friends back in Malacca in that place (she's sabahan but I know her when she study at Uitm Malacca) Last time i check, she's still taking accounting course. BUT now, she's a part time lecturer in Uitm Sabah. So nice for her. Now, i wonder what should i do after my practical finish? Should i seek for a job? Should i pursue master degree? Its a riddle in my head that still unsolved for now.

5th Day

Hello once again. I’m back to give my report for the 5th day. Today’s activity is exactly a copy paste from yesterday activity. It’s totally same and very unproductive day. I came there fetch by my dad and meet with Jack and headed to the company after waiting for a while for Kristy. Then, write the three things (we came 7.54 am) we usually write in the red books and headed in to office. From there until 5.37 pm where we went back home, there’s nothing meaningful things we do other than online and try to make ourselves looks busy. Gosh, when will we ever been given a real works? Its so frustrated.
That’s all for today’s report.
P/S : I notice something, there’s two different things compare to yesterday activity. Today, Kristy joined the club and the three of us went to other place for our lunch. (^o^)

Updated (3 AM, 11.7 in the morning. baru balik. ngantuk) : Hohoho. Later afterwards, I release all the frustration by go watching movie. The time promise was suppose 10.10 PM but unfortunately, the ticket for Ice Age 3 was finish. Then, we decided to watch the late night movie at 11.50 PM, the Public Enemies (we hang out at Water Front for a while waiting for the movie. Gosh, there's so many chicks out there in KK at nite. Luckily most of us wearing a short pants, if not, Pub, Pub it is). It turns out not a bad idea at all. I love John Dillinger character, remains calm and confident on his every move. Johnny Depp really bring out the characters to life. I really love his quote talking on how to judge a person on one of the scene in the movie "it's not where we came from, it's where we headed.." I recommend this movie to all mature audience. The plot is nice, the script is well made. There's nothing I can say here, go watch this movie by yourself.

4th Day

Hello once again. I’m back to give my report for the 4th day. Today’s post will be very short and plain. I’m almost didn’t want to write a report for today activity as it’s exactly the same with the first day. Gosh, it’s damn bored and unproductive days. Still maintaining the same pattern, I was fetched there by my dad and meet with Jack at the bus stop and headed to the company after wait for a while for Kristy. Write our name, time (its 7.50 am when we reach there) and our signature. Then, as usual we headed in to the office. We sit on the chair and immediately bring out our laptop. There’s a short talk with our supervisor, David around that time (he came early today and again headed out). He talks about how Google and Yahoo maintain their servers by using one IP address (Johnathan disagree with that as he says that the Goggle got several IP address for the server. I would say I agree as I remember there’s one simple java program that use the Java.net library to return IP address based on the hostname. I tried it before) as this site hits millions access everyday. Actually he asks us how they do it because he wonders about it himself. (mcm la sa tau..haha. But I do have thought in my mind, will check that later). He also ask us how many network appliances that we know and the important behind it (this is a question), again here the word load balancer been mentioned. Then again, he has gone without any warning. A while later, one of the network engineers in there asked us whether we want join her to go Jabatan Laut to do some testing site. Same with Eric, she can only bring two people along. Of course, the priority is to Kristy as she didn’t join on the first outing. Then, we decided the second person is me. BUT to my surprise, the network engineer girl needs a laptop. UNFORTUNATELY, my laptop battery life is short. So, I was kicked out of the team (haha. just kidding. But she really need a laptop that can stand long. It just not my laptop. Laptop lama ba, satu jam ja tahan. Jack pnya laptop lagi la, setengah jam ja). Approximately around 9 to 10 am, they went out (I didn’t know the details as Kristy still doesn’t reach the company even after 5.30 pm. She's having fun maybe). So, I think my report ends here because start from that time until 5.33 pm where both me and Jack went back home, our activity is just 100% online and try to make ourselves looks busy (sa cuba baca2 juga tu buku yg c Eric bagi semalam. Smp Module 4, sa confuse sama boring uda. Haha).
That’s all for today’s report. Today’s activity is just unproductive for both me and Jack. T.T
P/S : This post also didn't contain any picture. Who want to see a picture of me and jack just sit and play with our laptop, rite?

3rd Day

Hello once again. This is the 3rd report for the third day for our practical. Once again, I’m very sorry for the formality. As usual, the morning start with the same thing all over again just like yesterday. Sent by my dad and meet with Jack at the bus stop nearby and wait for a while for Kristy (though she’s a bit early today). Then, we headed up to the company and do all the things that everybody does in the company, write their name, arrival time (as I say, we came a bit early today..7.45 am. All thanks to Kristy. Terima Kasih Kristy..hahaha) and signature. Then, we headed in to the company and sat. Today’s activity more or less is the same with the 1st day. We simply sit and watch our own laptop. BUT, we do learn some new stuff today. I forgot on what time exactly we start to become ‘a bit’ busy. I think the time was around 9 am if I not mistaken because David ask Johnathan to show us the software they used to remotely control the server (remember the server at the roof top) as he headed out to do some things. Let’s cut the story short and focus on the software I mentioned just now. Actually, a VM ware software been used inside the server to create few virtual server. But since the server is located at the rooftop, so it’s a bit complex to check and control the server by going there itself. Instead, Srikom use client side software to remotely control (something like remote desktop but this one can allow more than one client access at one time) and maintained the virtual server. I forgot to mentioned, Srikom used vmware Sphere as their preferable vmware software (though I don’t know any vmware software since I never used it..haha).
But this client side software is quite cool to me. You really can check the all the server performance like temperature, memory used and etc. And you can even create a virtual server inside it also. Thanks to Johnathan, we managed to learn on how to create, configure and install the virtual server (there’s a few different UNIX OS inside the server – Kristy n Jack choose to install CentOS while myself choose to install Red Hat 4.2 kernel). Actually, this Johnathan guy really awesome in using UNIX (as far as I can see since I don’t get almost all the command he use..he even teach us some basic things – you can check all the executable command in this folder by typing “ls $path”). During this time, I don’t remember what trigger me to become a bit passive until evening. Maybe someone notice it. Hahaha. No comment about that. Then, after a delicious lunch (itu lada asam btl. Hais), we headed back to the company. During this time until 5.30, there’s nothing much I can say in here since we got nothing to do. We cannot test the UNIX machine that we install using the vmware sphere client because it’s cannot connect to the LAN since it’s a virtual OS. Then again like the 1st day, we just sat there and online waiting for went back. Well, we do actually doing something at that time..we try to configure the HP ProCurve switch 2626. Since the syntax are quite the same with CISCO switch, we just go through and check the all the available command. Honestly say, during our time in UTeM, we seldom try to configure the switch, its more to the router. The only thing I remember about configuring switch is creating a VLAN in a switch and create a trunking in the router to enable the vlan communicate. And also the STP, but I consider myself almost forgot all this stuff. My brain is really rusty after few months. If they ask me to configure a CISCO router, I would give them a big smile since I play with that device a lot for my PSM. But facts is facts, I have to adapt to the device they used. Luckily, our savior Eric saw us trying to learn how to configure VLAN (well, I would say only 30% of the online activity really searching for the info, the other 70%? I think you guys know the answer..hahaha…) and he give us a book that I think been used for the HP course that he taken to learn. The book stated there “HP ProCurve fundamental for student guide”. But Eric gives us the book too late in the evening, I think is around 5.15 or 5.20 pm. Then, after a short check..the three of us pack our stuff and went back home (again, the same way we came in the morning is the same way we came out in the evening..the purple book. i think is around 5.33 pm). Since I’m a good guy and care for my friend (hahaha..ya ka ne? coincidently, my dad ask me also if I want to be fetch by him. Lagi pn, itu tmpt mmg bahaya ckit ba kalo saturang2 br pn untuk laki2), so I decided to accompany Kristy for a while waiting for her (x tau pa mau cakap cni..). But still, my dad come 1st than her ????? . To cut the story short, both of us reach home safely. Thank God.
That’s all for today’s report. Sorry for no picture as I don’t know what picture I can upload.

2nd Day

Hello once again. Its my second report for our 2nd day. Again, sorry for the formality. Today’s activity more or less is about server (at least we gain something today) Still using the same pattern as yesterday, my dad sent me n meet with Jack at the bus stop nearby n again waiting for kristy (seems both of us are punctual..haha. no offense kristy) I remember the three of us taking the lift to 5th floor with johnathan who came the same time with us. Again, upon entering the company..we write our name, arrival time (I’m pretty sure its around 7.58 am that time) and signature on the book (correction for the yesterday post, its not red. The red book is for the staff. Ours one is purple) Then, we headed inside to the same place where we sit couple of hours yesterday. To our surprise, there are four new faces (well, for us is yes, haven’t seen them yesterday) sit at the place. To make long story become short, four of them are UMS student who also doing their industrial training in Srikom. After a short introduction and shake hands sessions between us, we sat (again..haha)

After a while, one of the network engineer, Eric asked us if we want to join him to go the customer site to do some troubleshoot. Well, its not we I suppose to say...its both me and Jack actually (felt very pity and sorry for kristy as Eric can only bring two people with him..jgn ko marah aa kristy..haha) We went out from Srikom around 10 am and headed to Rasa Ria Resort which are the customer site Eric talking about. After half hour, we reach there. Then, we straightly headed to the server room located in the IT Department. We been told by Eric that the modem use for the wireless connection in that resort is down and that is why Eric is been called. It’s quit an experience for us to go the server room in a resort (well, you usually wont headed to that place if u go to a resort, ain’t it?)

After a short testing, Eric found out that the old modem serial port is burn or got problem. Oh yeah, just for the info..modem that been used for the wireless connection is Nomadix. Don’t ask me about the modem..i know nothing about it..the only thing i know, that particular modem is one of the many intelligence modem out there (i think)

Then, Eric replace the old modem with other modem, same model though…then, he start to configure the modem with the old configuration in the old modem. Then, for few hours after that, we just sat/stand/watch at Eric do the troubleshoot at the server room (I think got problem around that time, it seems the server are not reachable or something..Eric told us is maybe because of the proxy server..couldn’t give the details as we also quit confuse that time..haha) But it’s a good thing, we can observe the server room in close range. There are even few devices we haven’t see in UTeM like the CISCO firewall, fiberlogic or the load balancer, patch panel and the lease line. Our business in there finish around 1 plus and we go have our lunch. So, to make the long story become short again. We arrive at Srikom almost 3 pm. Then again, both of us headed inside and sat again on the chair. Then again, to my surprise..David (remember david, our supervisor) bring us (this time, kristy join the club..hehe) to visit Srikom’s server room. Wow, both me n Jack visit server room twice today. But the best part about this visit is where the server room located. Usually server room will be placed as ground level as possible to avoid disaster and some factors that I forgot. The server room is placed at the roof top. And even the way to go there is quite special. Remember in some movie where the rich guys always have their own lift to go to their special room or whatsoever. Its something like that, we have to take a small lift which amazingly the slowest lift I’ve ever been in my entire life. Then, we were shown to the server room. Then, David start explain to us about all related stuff about server room which I don’t understand almost any of it. The only part that I caught in my mind is the server rack is 19 inches wide that can fit in any brand of network devices and 3 hole is equal to 1 U or 1 unit. One more thing that amazes me is the cabling is put at the ceiling rather than under the floor and a camera that can monitor the server room including the temperature. Then, all of us headed back to Srikom. Its around 5 pm at that time. Finally, to make long story become short..we went back home around 5.38 pm with the same pattern as yesterday, write our signature in the purple book. I cursed the weather that time because its gonna rain. But eventually, I managed to go reach home before it start to rain..hehe.

That’s all the report for the second day. Roger n out.

P/S : The picture shows the broken Nomadix modem. The close up picture show the so called OS for the modem. That small thing cost around RM2k to RM3k

1st Day

Well, well, well. Its been a while since i write a blog about myself. Last time i wrote a blog when i still addicted with friendster. Hahaha. I think that blog still exists. Let me get this straight first, i'm start writing a blog again not to brag about my life, it just to help me to not lost track of what been i do during my practical for this coming 6 months. PLUS, it will help me later to write the daily report activity for my log book.
Hmm. Where to start? SORRY for the formality. Hahaha.
My dad sent me in front of the company sharp 7.30 am. Then, meet with Jack at the bus stop nearby around that time also. After a while, kristy came. Then, the three of us heading towards the company and taking lift to the 5th floor. We enter the company and write our name, signature and time arrive which is around 7.53 am in a small red book (i think).
Then, we sit in front there waiting for further instructions. During that time, some of the workers came in to check in where they do the same thing we do, write in a book. In my heart says "wow..this company is old school..". Then, the three of us were asked to go in into the office area. Well, again my heart kept saying to myself "wow again, the office area kinda small and packed..". Its not a bad thing actually but it just..well, should i say "mimang sempit ckit la". LOL.
Then, we sat in a chair for about 1 hour plus before our supervisor, Mr.David call us into the office. Brief us a bit about the company. Then, David shows us a documentation about a project which this company done in MRSM. David focuses more on the testing phase in the documentation where it make the three of us lost. What the hell the graph says? I don't understand. Luckily, there's someone who nicer enough to explain to us. Then, this is where the fun part begins. Mr.David suddenly went out to UMS doing something. Then, we were left there with one of the traineer also, Johnathan (the guy that help us explained the graph before, remember.) This KL guy been there for 5 weeks already and from (couldn't remember any word for his college name where he study..haha.) He were asked by David to shows us around that company. After a little tour (we know where is the toilet already and to my suprise, this company got an office upstrairs where JAVA, ruby and RFID office is there), we then sat in the same chair where we sit for 1 hour plus just now. We sat there doing nothing other than online (well, mostly playing facebook and chat..hahaha. couldn't blame us entirely, they left us there doing nothing..what else we can do..plus, we're getting hungrier) The lunch time is quit fun, the food is cheaper and many. We do enjoy it. haha. Then, went back where we were again. Sit there and facing our laptop. Gosh, cannot describe what do i felt during that time. Its just so damn bored and tired. I really miss my class in UTeM where i can freely go sleep without worrying. Hohoho. My eyes kept seeing the clock in the wall and counting the minutes. Tick~Tock~Tick~Tock. Hey, its 5 pm d. Almost time to go back. Then, our David came back. Well, actually few minutes ago where we again were asked to read a catalog about fiber and copper. Just lazy to edit back this blog. haha. We were shown just briefly how to configure a HP switch. Forgot the model, check yourself in the pic later. Well, its quit the same actually on how to configure CISCO switch since this HP switch use almost the same syntax. Then, blah, blah, blah. Yeah! Its 5.30 pm. We take our beg and headed home asap. hehe.
That's it for today's report.
